Graceful Changes Yoga awakens body, mind, heart and spirit through gentle yoga moves, focused breathing, deep relaxation from Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga and other meditative practices, as well as readings of timeless poetry which inspire self-reflection and empower students to bring the “graceful changes” of yoga into their daily lives. In addition to renewed vitality, strength, flexibility, and balance, Graceful Changes yoga can improve concentration, reduce stress and bring peace and spiritual connection to those who practice it.
“After dabbling in yoga for many years while pursuing a career as a musician, I began a daily practice of yoga as I approached the age of 60. Delighted by changes in my body, emotions and spirit, I decided to become a yoga teacher to share its wonderful benefits with others approaching mid-life and beyond. I have earned certificates in Kripalu-style Hatha Yoga (Yoga Alliance 200 hrs.), LifeForce Yoga® for Stress, Relax and Renew® Restorative Yoga and Radiant Child Yoga, as well being in the final stages of certification to teach Therapeutic Yoga to Seniors from Duke University School of Integrative Medicine. I have taught yoga in my home and at senior centers in the Washington DC area as well as volunteer Youth Yoga classes at the Sitar Arts Center in DC. I am editor of an international anthology of poetry, Poems of Awakening (2010), born from the deep inspiration I have experienced hearing poetry during yoga classes. I believe yoga can be adapted to all bodies and has benefits for each student who chooses to practice it, regardless of age, beliefs, religion or other background.” |
